The temple had undergone  many changes, which includes construction of Rajagopuram and tiling of floor. This temple escaped from demolition of Ashok Nagar Metro station, whose east side entrance is very close to the temple.

Some of the important features of this temple are..
The temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopram. The sanctum sanctorum consists of Sanctum, Artha mandapam and muka mandapam. Nandhi and Palipedam are in the muka mandapam.

In Koshtam, Veerabathirar, Dhakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Vishnu, Brahma, Saraswathy, Mahalakshmi and Durgai. The sanctum is in a rectangular shape. It was told that Sri Thopa Swamykal, a siddhar  stayed here and done pooja to Sri Mallikeswarar about 400 years before. His jeeva Samadhi is at Saidapet, near Vellore.
