Sri Mallikeswarar Temple / ஸ்ரீ மல்லிகேஸ்வரர் கோயில், Ashok Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

11th March 2017
During my stay at Jafferkhanpet, a part of Ashok Nagar, I used to visit this temple regularly. After a long gap, again on 11th March 2017, had went to this temple. The temple had undergone many changes, which included the construction of Rajagopuram and the tiling of the floor. This temple escaped from demolition of Ashok Nagar Metro station, whose east side entrance is very close to the temple.

Some of the important features of this temple are...
The temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram. The sanctum sanctorum consists of Sanctum, Artha mandapam, and muka mandapam. Sri Mallikeswarar is at the center, Sri Sakthi Ganapathy is on the right and Sri Visalakshi Samedha Sri Viswanathar ( in the same sanctum ) is on the right. Sri Maheswari is facing south.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was told that Sri Thopa Swamigal, a Siddhar stayed here and did pooja to Sri Mallikeswarar about 400 years before. His Jeeva Samadhi is at Saidapet, near Vellore.

To prove its antiquity, the roof of the sanctum was built with granite stone. Completely modified during the present renovation tiles were laid on the walls and floors and Kumbhabhishekam was performed in 2016.
