During
my stay at Jafferkhanpet, a part of Ashok Nagar, I used to visit this temple
regularly. After a long gap, again on 11th March 2017, had went
to this temple. The temple had undergone many changes, which included the construction of Rajagopuram and the tiling of the floor. This temple escaped from
demolition of Ashok Nagar Metro station, whose east side entrance is very close
to the temple.

Some
of the important features of this temple are...
The
temple is facing east with a 3 tier Rajagopuram. The sanctum sanctorum consists
of Sanctum, Artha mandapam, and muka mandapam. Nandhi and balipeedam are in the
mukha mandapam. In Koshtam, Veerabhadra, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Vishnu, Brahma, Saraswathy, Mahalakshmi and Durgai. The sanctum is in a rectangular shape. Sri Mallikeswarar is at the center, Sri Sakthi Ganapathy is on the right and Sri Visalakshi Samedha Sri Viswanathar ( in the same sanctum ) is on the right. Sri Maheswari is facing south.
In
the paraharam sannidhi for Chandikeswarar, Navagrahas, Stucco images of
Natarajar, Saneeswarar, Bairavar, Bhakatha Jaya Anjaneyar ( I was told that the
Anjaneyar was installed by Sri Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal
), Ramar, Sathya Narayanar, Chandran and Suriyan.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
was told that Sri Thopa Swamigal, a Siddhar stayed here and did pooja to
Sri Mallikeswarar about 400 years before. His Jeeva Samadhi is at Saidapet,
near Vellore.
To
prove its antiquity, the roof of the sanctum was built with granite
stone. Completely modified during the present renovation tiles were laid on
the walls and floors and Kumbhabhishekam was performed in 2016.

a walkable distance from Ashok Pillar bus stop.
