Sri Mandhavalli Amman Temple / ஸ்ரீ மந்தவள்ளி அம்மன் கோயில் / மந்தைவெளி அம்மன் கோவில் - a Kaval Deivam / A Village Guarding Deity of Mambalam Village, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

25th March 2018.
After the darshan of Sri Nagathamman, one of the Ellaiamman temples of Mambalam Village, inquired the Poojari, about Kaval Deivam or Ellai Amman temple of Mambalam Village. He directed me to this temple, which is on the 100 feet road.


Main Deity: Sri MandhavaLLi Amman.

Some of the important features of this temple are….
This temple is facing east with an entrance arch. A simple temple with a sanctum and a mandapam. In Koshtam Dakshinamurthy, Mahalakshmi and Durgai. In the mandapam sannidhi for Lakshmi Kuberar, Mari Amman, Sarabeswarar, Bairavar, Saneeswarar (In sitting posture), Navagrahas, Anjaneyar, and Sai baba. There is a Shiva Lingam with a nandhi on the right side of the sanctum. There are three more sannidhis under construction.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
As per the Gurukkal, the original temple was 400 to 500 years old. The old temple was shifted to this present place to give way for the laying of 100 feet road.  And this is one of the Kaval Deivam or the Village guarding deity of Mambalam. The temple is preparing for the Kumbhabhishekam, scheduled on 22-04-2018.

TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The temple will be opened between 06.30 hrs to 11.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 20.30 hrs.

HOW TO REACH:
This temple is on the west side of 100 feet road, Ottakapalayam, Vadapalani.
All the town buses will stop at the Vadapalani bus stop and the temple is about 500 meters.
