Till I entered this temple, I was not aware that this temple was built by the Cheras and later contributed to by the Pandyas and Vijayanagaras. This
temple is on the way to Sri Thampiratti
Amman Temple at Ingur.

Some of the important features of this temple
are...
This Shiva temple faces west with a 3-tier
rajagopuram. Dwajasthambam, Rishabam, and balipeedam are in the mukha mandapam. Ambal Sri Vadivulla Mangai is in the ardha mandapam facing south.
The outside level was raised up to the sanctum base, and three patta kumudha with inscriptions are
only visible. A brick and mortar vesara vimana is over the sanctum. In koshtam Vishnu Durgai, Brahma, Lingothbavar,
Dakshinamurthy, and Narthana Ganapathy.
In the outer prakaram Suryan,
Saraswathy, Valli Deivanai Subramaniyar, Agathiyar, Navagrahas, Bairavar,
Saneeswarar, Chandikeswarar, Kannimoola Ganapathy, Kasi Viswanathar, Mahalakshmi, and Chandran.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam, and mukha mandapam. The ardha mandapam was built during the Vijayanagara Period. The Pillars have the reliefs of Shiva’s postures like Pichadanar, Rishabaroodar, and the donor in worshiping postures.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The Temple has contributions from Cheras,
Pandiyas, and the Local king Saravana Kangeyan. The temple was renovated in
1957, and Kumbhabhishekam was performed. The inscriptions given below also belong to the Tamburatti Amman temple.
1084/2003
On the slab near the Ayyanar statue now in the museum in Kalaimagal Kalvi Nilayam
at Erode. Tamil. King Kulottunga II r.y. 7 (CE. 1203). It records a gift of an Ayyanar statue by an individual from the Kavala community.
1085/2003
On the light stand in Thampuratti Amman temple. Tamil. King's name is not mentioned.
(CE. 1890.) It records the gift of the light stand, which was dilapidated.
1085A/2003
On the north wall of the maha mandapa of Allaliswara temple. Tamil. Cikkaraya
Udaiyar (CE. 1694). It records a gift of a tank to the Allaliswara temple. It
gives the names of Pidariyur and the name of the God Mugamalarndanatha.
1086/2003
On the door jamb of Vallalisvaramudaiyar temple. Tamil. King's name is not
mentioned. (12th century CE.) It records a gift of a door jamb by the Siva
Brahmin Kumaravelan.

LEGENDS
The place Ingur was called Karjiravanam in Purana, Inthur, Inthaiyur, and was corrupted to the present name of Ingur. As per the legend, while Devas were doing thabas, the Asuras came and gave trouble. To their pray, Lord Shiva saved the Devas from the Asuras. Hence, people with troubles/problems used to pray to lord Shiva and get relief.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
In addition to regular poojas, special poojas are also conducted, like Pradosham, No-moon day (Amavasai), Tamil New Year, Aruthra
Darshan, Thirukarthigai, Thaipoosam, Mahasivarathri, Navarathri, Panguni
Uthiram. On Aadi Pooram day, the sprouted
green gram will be offered to childless ladies to get childbirth after the pooja to Ambal

12.00 hrs, and from 17.30 hrs to 20.00 hrs.

REACH:
The temple is about 6.5 km from Perundurai on the Perundurai
to Chennimalai bus route.
The nearest Railway station is Ingur, where the local
trains will stop, and about 1.5 km. Erode Railway Station is about 27 km.
