December 2018.
One of
my friends told me that he had seen a Pidari Statue ( Kali Statue ) kept in a
shed at Pidariyur near Perundurai on the way to Chennimalai. After visiting the
Amman and Shiva Temple at Ingur, thought of seeing this Paidari statue. The
Villagers could not help to locate instead they guided me to this temple, which
is about 2 KM off the main road. To my disappointment, this was an Amman Temple and
not the Pidari or Kali Temple.
The Presiding Deity: Sri Thirupirati Amman.
Some
of the important features of this temple are….
The
temple faces north with a Deepasthambham in front. There is an entrance arch with Amman’s
stucco image. Vinayagar sannidhi is in the artha mandapam. The Sanctum Sanctorum is at an
elevated level. The two-tier Gopura is above the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum was built on a pada bandha adhisthana.
In the
outer praharam sannidhi for Pongi Amman and Veeramathi Amman facing north
direction. Stucco horses are on both sides of the Mukha mandapam.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
This
temple has a close connection with Ingur. The Ingur Village Enjankoota Gounders, a Sub-Sect of the Gounder community donated Gold, and 20000 acres of land and built this
temple. This was engraved on a copper plate and a photocopy was hung on
the mandapam wall. The Copperplate starts with the Sun and Moon with Trident (Trishul) on the top. ( This signifies that this donation should be continued till the Sun and Moon exist.

The
temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
