The
Visit to the Sundararaja Perumal temple was a part of the “Siddhar Jeeva Samadhi Temples,
Shiva Temples, Kutty Andavar Temple and Amman Temples Visit", in Chetpet, Aminjikarai, and Choolai on 18th September 2022. On the way to Sri Angala Parameswari Amman
temple, came across this Vishnu temple with an old temple appearance that attracted me to visit this Temple.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are…
The
temple is facing with an entrance arch. Thiruman with Changu and Chakra stucco
images are at the top of the entrance arch. Krishna’s image is on the top of
the front mandapam. Moolavar Sundararaja Perumal is in standing posture with abhaya and varada
hastam. His consorts are on both sides. There is no sub / parivara sannidhis in this
temple. There is no Kosta image too.
ARCHITECTURE AND HISTORY.
The
temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum with a Metacolor sheet mandapa and a
mukha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum was built with bricks. The Mukha mandapam
is supported by two pillars and the terrace is of madras terrace ( the
ceiling is supported with wooden beams ).
Considering the type of construction and the materials used, the temple may be 100 to 150 years old.

conducted through sponsors.
