The visit to this Ammani Ammal eri /
lake at Ponmar was a part of “Shiva & Vishnu Temples, Hero Stones and
Heritage Sites Visit” from Ponmar to Karunilam, near Guduvanchery, in
Chengalpattu District on 24th October 2023.
The Ammani Amman also called as
Gangai Amman Temple is on the north side banks this Ponmar lake. This
inscription stone is installed in front of the Amman Temple.
The inscription, records that this
Amaneri Kulam was desilted and alluvial soil was taken by Mambakkam Sinana
Chetti’s son Vedagiri.
