Sri Venkateshwara Perumal Koil / ஶ்ரீ வெங்கடேஷ்வர பெருமாள் கோயில், Ulundai, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this Sri Venkateshwara Perumal Temple at Ulundai was a Part of “Shiva & Vishnu Temples and Hero Stones of Tiruvallur District Visit” on 21st October 2023.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple is facing east with balipeedam and Garudan. Stucco Dwarapalakas are on both sides of the ardha mandapam entrance. Moolavar Sri Venkatesa Perumal is in standing posture. The upper hands are holding Shankha and Chakra and lower hands are in abhaya and kadi hastam. Utsava murthis Sri Venkatesa Perumal with SriDevi and Bhudevi are in the antarala.

Thayar Sri Padmavathi Thayar, Andal, Hanuman, Sri Lakshmi Hayagreevar are in the praharam.

ARCHITECTURE
The complete temple was built with bricks and cement concrete.  temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala and ardha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a pada bandha adhistanam with three patta kumudam and adhistanam is on a raised upanam. A two tier vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. Stucco images of Maha Vishnu’s various avatars are on the Tala and greeva koshtam.

Padmavathi Thayar and Andal are in separate temples with sanctum sanctorum and ardha mandapam. 




HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was told that there was an old temple existed on the same place. The present structure was built about 15 years before and maha kumbhabhishekam was conducted during recent years.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from oru kala Poojas, special poojas are conducted on  Srivari Thirukalyana Utsavam and Garuda Seva in connection with Chitra Pournami, Rama navami, Vaikunta ekadasi, Krishna Jayanthi, etc,.

TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since oru kala pooja is conducted, the opening and closing times  are unpredictable.

The temple is about a KM off from main road.
The temple is about 6 KM from Mappedu Shiva temple, 20 KM from Tiruvallur, 28 KM from Poonamallee, 16 KM from Sriperumbudur, 35 KM from Arakkonam and 50 KM from Chennai.
Nearest Railway Station is Tiruvallur.
