the Temple belongs to the 10th to 11th Century Chozha period.
But there is no direct evidence to prove the same. A squatting lion Pillar with an inscription is found in the mukha mandapam of this temple. The inscription
belongs to Rajaraja –I’s 19th reign year. The inscription mentions
that Abasnagar Ammaiyappan alias Barnarayan to Brameeswararmudaiyar. The place
mentioned Paduvur is about 5 KM from Orathy. As per the Historians, this pillar
may have been brought from that temple.
