Amneeswarar Jain Temple/ Pushpathantha Tirthankarar Temple/ புஷ்பதந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர் கோயில், Thingalur, Erode District, Tamil Nadu.

On 1^st March 2015, on the way to Erode, I visited this Sri Amneeswarar Jain Temple at Thingalur. As per the inscriptions this temple was called Pushpathantha Tirthankarar Temple. This part of the combined post is separated and written as a separate post.

Some of the important features of this temple are...
A lot of renovation is going on in this temple. The Ammeeswarar idol is of marble, and a stone murti is also installed, one behind the other. Dharma Devi sannidhi is on the left side of the mandapam and faces north.

ARCHITECTURE
A lot of Hindu religion-related reliefs are chiseled on the pillars of the mandapam. The mandapam, with its Kodungai and Pothiyal, is of the Hindu temple architecture type. Balipeedam is in front of the temple. Nagar's images are on the right side of the entrance to the temple.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS

The temple may have been constructed during the 10^th to 11^th century during the Kongu Chozha period. The temple was called Pushpathantha Tirthankarar Temple and is now called Amneeswarar Temple.

புஷ்பதந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர் கோயில் மடைப்பள்ளி நிலையில் உள்ள கொங்கு சோழர் கோனாட்டான் விக்ரம சோழனின் 40 ஆவது ஆட்சி ஆண்டு, பொஆ 1044 கல்வெட்டு, புஷ்பதந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர் கோயிலில் அறத்துளான் முத்தன் பொன்னனான கணிதமாணிக்கச் செட்டி சிங்களாந்தகன் என்ற பெயரில் முகமண்டபம் அமைத்தார் என்பதைப் பதிவு செய்கின்றது.

மத்திய தொல்லியல் துறையினர் "முத்தன்" என்பதை 'தேவன்' என்றும், சிங்களாந்தகன் என்பதை திங்களூரன் என்றும் படித்துள்ளனர். திரு நா சுப்பிரமணியன் "பொன்னனான" என்பதை "பேரனான" என்றும் படித்துள்ளனர்.

போசாள மன்னன் வீரவல்லாளனின் பொஆ 14 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு புஷ்ப தந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர் கோயில் தனிக்கல்லில் உள்ள கல்வெட்டு, புஷ்ப தந்த தீர்த்தங்கரரின் மூன்று காலப் பூசைக்கு அறிகணிநல்லூர் என்ற ஊர் கொடையாகக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. புஷ்பதந்தர் பூமேந்திரர் என்று குறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

புஷ்ப தந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர் கோயில் பலிபீடத்தில் உள்ள பொஆ 15 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு கல்வெட்டு முனிவிலிடு முப்பிரான் என்பவர் பலிபீடம் அமைத்த செய்தி கூறப்படுகிறது.

Thingalur is on the way from Perundurai to Gobichettipalayam.
The town bus is available from Perundurai.
The temple is about 0.5 km off the main road, behind the HP petrol pump.
