On 1st March 2015, on the way to Erode, I visited this Murugan temple at
Malai Seenapuram. The name Jainapuram was changed to Seenapuram, and there are
other names, too. They are Sanakapuri and Sanakapuram. And this place was called Vijayagiri during the 16th - 17th centuries. This part of the combined post is
separated and written as a separate post.

Some of
the important features of this temple are...
Sri Murugan temple is on a small hill. The temple
is under renovation. The Peacock Vahana Mandapam is before the steps. There are
62 steps neatly paved, with the donor's name engraved. An arch mandapam is
at the top of the hill. The temple faces west, with the Peacock mandapam and
balipeedam at the front.
Vinayagar sannadhi, Urchavars are in the ardha
mandapam. Both the west and south entrance doors are Godrej safety locker
doors.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum,
antarala, and arsha mandapam. The temple was constructed with stone from
adhistanam to prastaram, and the vimanam above the bhumidesam was constructed
with bricks. The pilasters are of brahma kantha pilasters. The prastaram
consists of valapi and kapotam with nasi kudus. The vimanam consists of 1 tala,
greevam, and vesara sigaram.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple may be 300 to 400 years old, built at the end of the Vijayanagara Nayakas period. This place was called Vijagiri, since the temple was constructed on a small hill (kundru)

சிற்பங்களையும் அமைத்தவர். விசயகிரி வேலாயுதசுவாமி மீது மிகவும் பக்தி கொண்ட சுவர்
தரையில் விழுந்து வணங்கும் நிலையில் மலைக் கொடிக்கம்பத்தின் அருகில் தன் உருவச்
சிலையையும் அமைத்து அதன் அருகில் தன் பெயரையும் பொறித்துள்ளார்.
