HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is said that the Shiva Lingam and Rishabam are more than 1000 years old and both are in the thorny bush near the present place. After seeing their bad condition, the Parvatha Hills Siva Guru Siddhar’s disciple Sivakarunanada Siddhar brought the Shiva Lingam and Rishabam to the present place and installed them on a pedestal after 8 years of struggle. Anticipating the antiquity of the Shiva Lingam and Rishabam, belongs to the Pallava period, the present temple was constructed as a Gajaprishta Vimana temple.
