72/ 18. THIRUKKADAIMUDI. ( Keelaiyur, Thirukadaimudi)

This is the 72nd Devara Paadal petra Shiva Sthalam and 18th sthalam on the north side of river Cauvery in Chozha nadu. Thiruganasambandar has sung hymns in praise the Lord Shiva of this temple.

Iraivan: Sri Kadaimudinathar, Sri Anthi Samraksneeswarar.
Iraivi   : Sri Abirami.

Some of the important  features of this temple are as follows.
  1. The Lord of this temple was worshiped by Kanva Maharishi.
  2. Sannadhi for Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Bairavar, Moovar Sila roopam.
  3. In Koshtam,
  4. Moolavar is little taller, Made of navabashanam ( as per Gurukkal ) with 16 faces.

159/42. THIRUCHEMPONPALLI. Now this place is called as Sembanarkoil 

This is the 159th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 42nd sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Thiruganasambandar and Appar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.

Iraivan: Sri Swarnapuriswarar, Sri Devapriyar, Sri Sornalakshmeesar,                               Sri Chemponpalliyar.
Iraivi   : Sri Maruvar Kuzhali, Sri Pushpazhaki, Sri Thaakshiyayini,  Sri Suguntha               Kunthalambigai, Sri Suguntha vananayagi.

Some of the important features of this temple are as follows.

  1. Vasister, Brahman, Indiran, Kuberan worshiped lord of this temple.
  2. Lord blessed Thaakshiyayini and incarnated Veerabathirar.
  3. Indiran got the Vajrayutham after worshiping lord Shiva of this temple.
  4. This is one of the Maada temple constructed by  Ko Chenkat Chozhan.
  5. The aavudayar is of round shape aand carved like lotus  ( Seems Vishnu worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple )
  6. Urchavars are Somaskandhar, Natarajar, Chandrasekar.
  7. The silaroopam of Pitchadanar is very old.
  8. Pudaisirpam of King worshiping Lord Shiva and his both sides monk and minister.
  9. Ambal in a separate sannadhi with Sabtha kanniyars.
  10. Silaroopam for Vanadurgai, Viswanathar, Srinivasaperumal, Sibi Kaatchinathar with maan and mazhu., Balasubramaniyar, Gajalakshmi, Joshtadevi, Veerabathrar, Suryan, Bairavar.
  11. In Koshtam, Indiraganapathy, Dhakshinamoorthy, Arthanaareeswarar, Durgai.
  12. There is no kodimaram and Rajagopuram.

163/46. AKKUR .

This is the 163rd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 46th Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. Thiruganasambandar and Appar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva Of this temple.

Iraivan: Sri Thanthonreeswarar, Suyabu Nathar
Iraivi   : Sri Kadakanethri, Sri Vaalnedunganni

Some of the important features  of this temple  are as follows.
  1. This is one of the maada koil built by Ko Chenkat Chozhan.
  2. Sirappuli Nayanar was born in this place.
  3. This is one of the sthalam in which Lord Shiva has given Kalyana dharshan to Agasthiyar.
  4. Moorthis for Paana Lingam,  Viswanathar, Visalakshi, Naalvar, Vinayagar, Murugan, Lakshmi.
  5. Separate Sannadhi for ‘Aayirathil oruvar” special moorthy with vimanam. ( When the King gave food to Anthanars Iraivan also participated )
  6. In Koshtam,Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma, Durgai.
  7. Moortham for Sundarar with his wives, Sangiliyar and Paravai Nachiyar.
  8. Moolavar is Suyambu, and there is crack on the top from here only Shiva came and went to Thirukadaiyur to kick the Kaalan with his leg.
  9. Ambal temple is facing west on the right side of moolavar and standing posture.
  10. There is a separate sannadhi for Sri Saraswathy.
  11. Sri Murugaperman sannadhi is in the form of Chariot looks beautiful

70/16. PULLIRUKKUVELUR.  Now this place is called as Vatheeswaran Koil 

This is the 7th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 16th sthalm on the north side of river Cauvery in Chozha nadu. Thiruganasambandar has sung hymns in praise of lord Shiva of this temple.

Iraivan: Sri Vaidhyanathar
Iraivan:  Sri Thaiyal nayagi.

Some of the important features of this temple are as follows….

  1. The Lord of this temple was worshiped by Pul ( Sadayu), Irukku ( Rig Vedham ), Vel Murugan, Oor ( Suryan).
  2. It is believed that Bairavar, Veerabathrarar, Karpakavinayagar, Kaali  guards this place from four sides.
  3. Swamy is small in size and this lord will cure the deceases caused  due to Manthiram, Thanthiram, Medicine ( Negative ).
  4. Sannadhi for Ramar, Sadayu, Subramaniyar, Suryan, Angaragan worshiped lingams.

  1. This place is on the bus route Chidambaram to Mayiladuthurai after Seerkazhi.
  2. Can come from Kumbakonam via Mayiladuthurai.

74/20. THIRUPPUNKOOR.

This is the 74th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 20th sthalam on the north side of river Cauvery in Chozha nadu. Moovar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.

Iraivan: Sri Shivaloganathar
Iraivi:    Sri Chokka Nayagi, Sri Soundara nayagi.

Some of the important features of this temple are…..

  1. Nandhi gave way for the dharshan to Thirunalaipovar, by moving sidewards.
  2. Sila roopam for Kalikaamar, Yayerkon, Sundarar.
  3. This temple lord was worshiped by Brahma, Indiran, Agasthiyar, Chandran, Suryan, Rajarajendran, Agni, Pathanjali, Viyakrabathar,Sabthakanniyar, Virarmindanayanar.
  4. Sannadhi for Vinayagar, Naalvar, Subramaniyar, Suryan, Kalikamar, Sundaravinayagar,Gajalakshmi, Bairavar, Navagrahas, Chandran.
  5. Moolavar is little short suyambu Prithivi only punugu is applied and no abhishekam..
  6. In Natarajar Saba Devar is playing a Panchamuga vaadhyam sila roopam to be watched.
  7. In koshtam, Narthana Vinayagar, Pitchadanar, Agasthiyar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Ligothbhavar, Brahma, Durgai, Arthanareeswarar, Shethra balar.
  8. The right side dwarabalakar’s  expression on his face to move the Nandhi to side for Thirunalaipovar’s dharshan.
  9. Nandhi is little big. The special is the tongue is not protruding out side to be watched.

  1. On the bus route Vaitheeswaran Koil to Thirupananthaal get down after 3 Km and the temple is 1 Km away from main road.

Nandhi is little big  little away from center to right side and the tongue is inside, not out side like in any other temples. Kodimaram in which Nandhi  which gives the access to Lord Shivas dharshan to Thirunaalai Povar.
