Tirthankaras of Ambur, Yelagiri Village and Ganamanthur, Tirupattur District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to the Tirthankaras is part of the 73^rd Ahimsa walk, scheduled on 5^th January 2020.  All three Tirthankaras are found abandoned or unearthed, and small shires are constructed and under worship.  All the three Tirthankaras belong to the 11^th to 14^th Century, as per the experts.

AMBUR TIRTHANKARA.

This Tirthankara was under a neem tree at Gangai Amman Temple abandoned many years ago. When the Ahimsa Walk team wanted to construct a Temple, the trustees promised to construct a temple on their own. It was said that the locals used to keep the Tirthankara flat to get rain. A new mandapam like a sannidhi was constructed in a hall and the Tirthankara was installed by the trustees. Arrangements were also made for regular poojas.

The Tirthankara is carved on a flat stone. Mukkudai, Prabai, ashoka creepers, Samaratharis, and a thindu on the back are shown. Since the base of the Tirthankara is under the new pedestal, whether lanchanam was found or not, is not known.

ஆம்பூர் தீர்த்தங்கரர்.

மகாவீரர் என அழைக்கப்படும் எட்டு முதல் பத்தாம் நுற்றாண்டைச் சார்ந்ததாகக் கருதப்படும்  தீர்த்தங்கரர் பிம்பம் நெடுங்காலமாக கங்கை அம்மன் கோயிலில் உள்ள வேம்பு மரத்தின் அடியே இருந்ததாக. கூறுகின்றனர். ( மழை வராத காலங்களில் குப்புற கவிழ்த்தி கிடத்தினால் மழை வரும் என்று நம்புகின்றனர், நடந்த சம்பவத்தையும் விவரிக்கின்றனர் ). தீர்த்தங்கரர் பிம்பம் முகம் மட்டும் சிறிது தேய்ந்து காணப்பட்டது. தீர்த்தங்கரின் தலைக்கு பின்புறம் பிரபை, மேலே முக்குடை மற்றும் அசோக கொடியும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தது. இருபுறமும் சாமரதாரிகளும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தனர். பின்புறம் சிறிய திண்டும் காணப்படுகின்றது. பீடம் வரை அடித்தளம் அமைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்ததால் லாஞ்சனம் இருந்ததா இல்லையா என்று தெரியவில்லை.

     

இந்த தீர்த்தங்கரருக்கு சிற்றாலயம் அமைக்க அஹிம்சை நடையினரின் சார்பாக முன்னெடுத்த போது, கங்கை அம்மன் கோயிலின் அறங்காவலர்களின் ஒருவரான திரு சேகர் ரெட்டியார் தாமே முன் வந்து சிற்றாலயம் அமைத்துக் கொடுப்பதாக வாக்களித்து அதை நிறைவேற்றவும் செய்து இருந்தார்.. கங்கை அம்மன் கோயிலின் வளாகத்தின் உள்ளே உள்ள ஒரு பெரிய அறையில் மண்டபம் அமைக்கப்பட்டு அதில் தீர்த்தங்கரர் பிம்பத்தை நிர்மானம் செய்து நித்திய பூசைகள் நடக்க ஏற்பாடும் செய்து இருந்தார்.

 

YELAGIRI / ELAGIRI VILLAGE TIRTHANKARA

This Tirthankara was found in a well, during the cleaning of the well, behind the Government elementary school of the Village. The locals call this Tirthankara Buddha or deaf Eswara. A small Temple was constructed by the locals in the midst of the plantain field and the Tirthankara was installed. People used to pray for child boon, by clapping. Special poojas are offered on Purattasi Saturdays. Mr Malayan who takes care of this temple may be contacted on his mobile at 7825954360.

The Tirthankara is in the form of bas relief, shown with mukkudai, Samaratharis, and ashoka creepers. A Thindu is also shown behind the Tirthankara. Poojas are conducted as per the Hindu style by applying vibhuti, Kumkum, and turmeric.

ஏலகிரி கிராமம்.

சிறிது சிரமத்திற்க்குப் பிறகே ஏலகிரி கிராமத்தின் அரசு ஆரம்பப் பள்ளியின் பின்புறம் இருந்த வாழைத்தோப்பின் மத்தியில் புதியதாக அமைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்த சிற்றாலயத்தை அடைய முடிந்தது. இந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர் பிம்பம் ஸ்தாபனம் செய்யப்பட்டு, இந்து முறைப்படி பூஜைகளும் நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.. தீர்த்தங்கரர் பிம்பம் 10ல் இருந்து 12ஆம் நுற்றாண்டைச் சார்ந்ததாக இருக்கலாம் என்பது அறிஞர்களின் கருத்து. தீர்த்தங்கரின் தலைக்கு பின்புறம் பிரபை, மேலே முக்குடை மற்றும் அசோக கொடியும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தது. இருபுறமும் சாமரதாரிகளும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தனர்.

இந்த தீர்த்தங்கரர், சிற்றாலயத்தின் அருகே உள்ள கிணறு தூர் வாரும் போது கிடைத்ததாகக் கூறுகின்றனர்.  இவரை புத்தர் எனவும், செவிட்டு ஈஸ்வரர் என அழைக்கின்றனர்.. குழந்தைவரம் வேண்டி மக்கள் வழிபடுகின்றனர். திர்த்தங்கரர், செவிட்டு ஈஸ்வரர் என்று கிரமத்தாரால் அழைக்கப்படுவதால், கை தட்டி பிரார்த்தனை செய்கின்றனர். தங்கள் பிராத்தனை நிறைவேறுவதாகவும் மக்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறுகின்றனர்.

GANAMANTHUR TIRTHANKARA

This Tirthankara was unearthed while excavating the land, which belongs to Mr Sekar, who is working as a mason. With a single man’s effort, Mr Sekar constructed this shrine, in the same place where it was unearthed and started doing regular  poojas.

The Tirthankara image is about 4 feet high and 3 feet wide. The Tirthankara was erected on a newly built pedestal. This Tirthankara is also in the form of bass relief with Mukkudai, Samaratharis, a thindu, and Asoka creepers.

 

கணமந்தூர் மகாவீரர்

அஹிம்சை நடையின் கடைசி நிகழ்வு கணமந்தூர் மகாவீரர் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட தீர்த்தங்கரர் தரிசனம். மகாவீரர் 4 அடி உயர நெடிய உருவம். தீர்த்தங்கரின் தலைக்கு பின்புறம் பிரபை, மேலே முக்குடை மற்றும் அசோக கொடியும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தது. இருபுறமும் சாமரதாரிகளும் காட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தனர். பின்புறம் சிறிய திண்டும் காணப்படுகின்றது. பிம்பத்தின் பீடம் வரை அடித்தளம் அமைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்ததால் லாஞ்சனம் இருந்ததா இல்லையா என்று தெரியவில்லை. தீர்த்தங்கரர் 10 முதல் 12 ஆம் நுற்றாண்டைச் சார்ந்ததாக இருக்கலாம் என்பது அறிஞர்களின் கருத்து. தீர்தங்கரர் பிம்பம் இந்த சிற்றாலயம் இருக்கும் இடத்திலேயே அகழ்ந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டதாகவும், கட்டுமானத் தொழிலாளி திரு சேகர் என்ற தனி நபரின் முயற்சியால் சிற்றாலயம் கட்டப்பட்டு தினமும் பூசைகளும் நடத்தப்படுவதாகவும் கூறினர்.
