A Ruined Shiva Temple at Lakshmi Narayana Puram on Melavalampettai to Thirukalikundram Road, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this temple was a part of the Pallava and Chozha Period Temples scheduled on 01st December 2019.  After Vasavasamudram, Sri Kailasanathar Temple, on the way to Kinar we saw this dilapidated Shiva temple on the left side of the Road ( on the south side of River Palar ).  It was said that a mandapam was in front of the sanctum and the same was removed for making a platform.


ARCHITECTURE
Now the Sanctum with a vimanam is standing alone. Moolavar Shiva is of swayambhu and in worship. A Bhairavar idol is in front of the sanctum. The adhistanam is of  pada bandha adhistanam with Three patta Kumuda built with granite stone. The sanctum and Vimana were built with brick The wall has kostas. The plastering has been peeled off in many places and brick is visible.


HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple may belong to to Vijayanagara Nayaka period. Lord Shiva is waiting for someone who takes care of or gives blessings to someone.
