Sri Sowmya Dhamodhara Perumal Temple / Sowmya Damodara Perumal Temple Temple, Parameswara mangalam, Natham / Nathem, Vasavasamudram, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this temple was a part of the Pallava & Chozha period temples between  Kalpakkam to Pulipurakoil, scheduled on 01st December 2019. After the Visit to Pallava Period Natham, Parameswara Mangalam, Sri Shenbakeswarar Temple, on the way to Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Visited this Sowmya Damodara Perumal temple / Sowmya Damodara Perumal Temple on the southern banks of river Palar.

Some of the salient features of this temple are…
The temple faces west with an entrance. A Pallava period squatting lion pillars are installed as the guardians. Garudan and balipedam are in front of sanctum sanctorum.  Moolavar Sri Sowmya Damodara Perumal is in standing posture with Sridevi and Bhudevi.  Also Sannadhi for  Anjaneyar ( both bas-relief and idol ), Andal, and 12 Alwars. 

ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, artha mandapam, and an open mukha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a pada bandha adhistanam with Jagathi, three patta Kumudam, and Pattigai. the Bhitti starts with Vedika and Brahma kantha pilasters on the wall. An Eka thala Vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that this temple was constructed by the Pallava King  Nirupathungavarman (869 – 880 CE) along with a Shiva Temple in the same Village.  Later this temple was reconstructed and Jirnortharam was conducted in 2013. The renovation expertise was offered by the R.E.A.C.H Foundation under the leadership of Mr Sathyamurthy. During excavation for renovation, urchavar was unearthed and taken away by the Tamil Nadu Kanchipuram archaeology department.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Oru kala pooja is conducted and Abhishekam will be done for Moolavar on Saturdays, Thiruvonam Nakshatra and New Moon days,  Punarpoosam Nakshatra day to Andal.

LEGENDS
Vasthu's problem will be solved after praying to Thayar Sri Vasthu Lakshmi. People with Vasthu problems in their houses used to throng this temple for remedy.

TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since Oru kala pooja is conducted, the temple will be kept open between 10.00 hrs to 10.30 hrs. Request the devotees to conform with Bhattar before going to this temple.
