Sri Mallikarjuneswarar Temple / Sri Mallikarjuna Temple, Sarva theertham Kulam, Kanchipuram, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu.

The list of Shiva temples in and around Kanchipuram with link to GooglePhotos, Location link on Google Map and Location QR Code are posted already in this blog. The visit to the above Temples on the banks of Sarva Theertham  Kulam was as a part of 2020 Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21st February 2020.

The Mallikarjuneswarar Temple is on the south west corner of the Sarva Theertha kulam. The 18th Century saint Sri Sivagnana Swamigal, had written the sthala purana of this temple, in Kanchipuram under Sarva Theertha padalam.

Some of the Salient features of this temple are...
This temple facing east with a three tier Rajagopuram. Balipeedam and adhikara Nandhi are in the inner mandapa immediately after the north side entrance Rajagopuram. Moolavar is in Sanctum. In koshtam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai. Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar, Bhairavar, Suryan, Navagrahas ( on the south side of Balipeedam ) and Chandikeswarar are in the prakara. 

The temple consists of Sanctum sanctorum, artha mandapam and a mukha mandapam. The inner mandapa was supported with square and octagonal section pillars. A Two tier Nagara Vimana is on the sanctum sanctorum. The Sikaram is with Nasis on all the 4 sides. It is believed that the original temple was built during 7th to 8th Century Pallava period.

LEGEND:
It is believed that the Mahabharata Hero Arjuna established this temple and worshiped Lord Shiva.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS:
Apart from regular poojas , special poojas are conducted on Mondays ( Somavaram ), Karthikai  and Mahashivaratri days.

TEMPLE TIMINGS:
Since oru kala pooja is conducted the opening and closing times are unpredictable.  

HOW TO REACH:
This temple is on the bank of Sarva Theertham Kulam and Kanchipuram to Vellore Road.
About 2.4 KM from Kanchipuram Bus stand, 2.0 KM from Kanchipuram Railway Station, 27 KM from Arakkonam Railway Junction and 75 KM from Chennai Central Station.
Nearest Railway Station is Kanchipuram and Nearest Railway Junction is Arakkonam.
