Pallava Period Shiva temple with Loose Sculptures near Sri Velanjeri Amman Temple, Eraiyur, Thiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Shiva Temple in the midst of paddy fields, near Sri Velanjeri Amman Temple at Eraiyur. was part of a Heritage Visit to the Temples, Thavvai, Kotravai, Durgai, and Hero Stone sculptures around Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai District on 22nd August 2021. Thanks to Logesh for his guidance. Thanks, to Babu Mano and Manoj, for taking me to this place.

The name of the moolavar is not known. Moolavar is facing east on a Square avudayar. A Nandi and a Vrutha pillar are in front of the newly constructed ( Yet to be completed ) brick temple. Chandikeswarar Vinayagar a Jyeshta Devi / Thavvai and a damaged Bhairavar are outside the temple. The experts believe that the original temple may belong to the 9th to 10th Century Pallava period. The uniqueness of this temple is the Vinayagar Sculpture.

Vinayagar… The Vinayagar is with 4 hands holding Changu / Conch and Chakra against the usual attributes of Pasam and Angusam.

Chandikeswarar... Chandikeswarar also seems to be unique. Maguda is shown as Virisadai, but mazhu is shown a little differently.
