The visit to this temple was a part of the Shiva, Vishnu, and Amman Temples' Visit on the banks of river Palar, scheduled on 15th March 2020. Our first Visit was to this Amman temple since Mr. Vels Kumaran directed us to go to this temple, which has rare sculptures of a Thoongu Thalai Navakanda Hero stone and an Amman idol. This place Villivalam is on the banks of river Palar.
Presiding Deity: Sri Muchanthi Amman.
Some of the salient features of this temple are...
The temple is facing west with a balipeedam and an elephant vahana. A 3-tier Rajagopuram is on the north side. A Thoongu Thalai Navakanda sculpture is in front of the Temple ( The details will be posted separately ). In praharam Selva Vinayagar, Sri Valli DevaSena Subramaniar, Nagathamman, Durgai, Vinayagar, Aruba Lakshmi ( made of sandstone eroded completely ), and Navagrahas.
ARCHITECTURE
The sanctum sanctorum consists of a sanctum, antarala, artha mandapam, and a meta-color mukha mandapam. The sanctum is rectangular in shape with an ekathala vimana. Amman’s various avatars stucco images are on the Vimana. Some erotic sculptures, tortoise, lizard, monkey, lady, and bird annam are on the walls of the sanctum sanctorum. In addition to this, a soldier is holding a rifle bas-relief on the mandapa pillar ( which indicates the period of construction ). Various deity paintings are painted on the walls.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTION
With the presence of the Thoongu Thalai Navakanda Hero stone, it is believed that this temple belongs to the 8th to 9th Century Pallava period. The front mandapa was extended during the 18th to 19th Century. The temple was renovated with Rajagopuram during recent periods.

The temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
