Sri Devi Thanu Kamakshi Temple / ஸ்ரீ தேவி தநு காமாக்ஷி ஆலயம் / தேகாலய ஞானபீடம், Guindy, Chennai. Tamil Nadu

This Devi Thanu Kamakshi Temple is on Sardar Patel Road, Guindy, close to Rajbhavan Gate and Rajbhavan Telephone Exchange, also in front of Rajbhavan Gate No. 2.

Some of the salient features of this temple are…
The temple faces east with a Rajagopuram-like structure. Maha Vishnu Temple’s symbols of Chakra, Thiruman, faces, and Sankha are on the top of the entrance to the temple. A Vallabh Ganapathy, Dwajasthambam / post, the, and balipeedam, and maha meru are in front of sanctum sanctorum. Sri Kamakshi Amman on the back Shiva is made of one stone in the sanctum sanctorum.  Shiva’s image can be viewed through a mirror. A Maha Vishnu’s image is in the praharam. Siddhar M Thiruneelakandar’s photo is fixed on the west wall.


HISTORY
This temple was built by the Siddhar M Thiruneelakandan from Pallavaram during the 20th century. He had written a book called “Thega alaya Gnana Thiravukol - தேக ஆலய ஞான திறவுகோல்”- considering one’s own body as a temple and the secret of the key to open. He used to meditate on Devi Kamakshi in this place. He attained Siddhi in 2008, and the temple was looked after by his wife, T. Anusuya. Now, the temple is being taken care of by his son Edwin Walter.

HOW TO REACH
This temple is at the entrance of Rajbhavan Gate No. 2, about 4 km from Guindy Railway Station and Thiruvanmiyur Railway Station, 11 km from Koyambedu, and 12.5 km from Chennai Central Station.
