The
visit to this Sri Anathiruthreshwarar Temple, on Thiruvegamban Street (Nadu
theru), in Pillaiyarpalayam, was a part of the “Maha Shivaratri 2025 Temples Visit”,
on 26th February 2025, organized by Mr. Babu Mano, and
Mr. Suresh Priyan.
Moolavar: Sri Anathiruthreshwarar
Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with an entrance arch.
Balipeedam and Rishabam are in front of the sanctum sanctorum. The temple is about
3 feet below the road level. Moolavar is on a round avudayar.
In praharam, Vinayagar, Chandikeswarar, and
Bairavar.
ARCHITECTURE
The whole temple was built with bricks and cement
concrete. The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum and ardha mandapam. A meta-colour sheet mandapam is provided in front of the sanctum sanctorum. The temple was
not built as per any temple architecture. There is vimanam on the sanctum
sanctorum.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the original temple belongs to the Pallava period. The present structure may have been constructed in recent
years.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from oru kala regular poojas, special poojas
are conducted on Pradosham, Maha Shivaratri, Annabhshekam in the month of Aippasi, etc. Thiruvenbavai recital is
conducted regularly during Margazhi month.
TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since oru kala pooja is conducted during morning
hours, opening and closing times are unpredictable.
