Sri Lakshmi Durgai Temple/ லக்ஷ்மி அருள்மிகு ஶ்ரீ துர்கை அம்மன் கோவில்/ Sindhai Veera Muneeswarar Temple / சிந்தை வீர முனீஸ்வரர் கோவில், Chintadripet, Chennai.

This visit to this temple was a part of the “Shiva, Vishnu and Amman Temples Visit” in Pudupet, Chennai, on 27th April 2025.  


The presiding Deity: Sri Lakshmi Durgai

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces south, with a stucco image of Durga with 16 hands, holding various weapons. An image of Durgai is in front of the Stucco image. Durgai is in a standing posture with abhaya varada hastam.
In the praharam, Vinayagar, Bairavar, Veera Muneeswarar, Kali, etc.


ARCHITECTURE
There is no formal structure for this Lakshmi Durgai. The main deity and the parivara deities are under a meta-color sheet mandapam.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was said that this temple is about 30 years old, and all the idols are open to the sky before the erection of the mandapam/ shed.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Fridays, Aadi Months, etc.

The temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs, and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.

The temple is on Arunachalam Street, on the right side from Chintadripet to Pudupet.
The temple is about 500 meters from Chintadripet MRTS Railway Station, 550 Meters from Adhikesava Perumal Temple, and 4 km from Chennai Central Station.
