The visit to this King’s portrait / Nadukal, just
after Thirumazhisai and opposite Chennai Public School, was part of
“Gajaprishta Vimana Temples Visit, in Tiruvallur District” on 12th
April 2026. Found on the left side of
the Road.

LOCATION : Just opposite Chennai Public School.
TITLE : King’s Portrait /Nadukal
PERIOD : 16th to 17th century
DETAILS :
There are two Nadukals erected, of which the left one
is a King’s portrait. In this, the King Nayakas/Palayakarar/Zamin image is carved in bas-relief, shown in a worshipping posture (Anjali hastam). Bow-like weapons and swords are not shown clearly. The turban seems like a donor
sculpture found in the temple. The lady on the left is holding something
in her left hand.
As per the experts, this Portrait may belong to the 17th
century.
On the right side may be a Hero Stone. Both the hero and
his wife are shown with a similar Nayaka period tuft. What the lady is holding in
her right hand is not known. And what the man is holding in his left hand is
also not known.
As per the experts, this may be a hero stone and may
belong to the 16th to 17th century.
