The visit to this Rajaseat, at Madikeri, in Kodagu District,
Karnataka, was a part of “Kodagu Heritage Walk”, from 22nd to 24th
May 2026, organised by “எண்திசை வரலாற்று மரபுநடைக்குழு”.
One of the popular
tourist spots of Coorg is the Raja Seat, which literally means “Seat of the Kings”.
Located in the town of Madikeri, it is a beautiful place presenting a
refreshing setting and soothing environment.
The place is called Raja’s Seat because it was the place where Coorg’s kings, who ruled Kodagu /
Coorg for over 200 years from 1600 CE to 1834 CE, used to visit and enjoy the
scenic beauty around. The sunset and sunrise make for a mesmerising view which
is worth watching.
