The
visit to this Sri Kuraitheerkum Eswaran Shiva Temple at Kurripedu was part of
“Durga/ Kotravai, Shiva and Maha Vishnu Temples around Vavdavasi” on 12th
September 2026. This temple is close to Erikatha
Amman Temple on the banks of Velliyambakkam Eri. I sincerely thank Mrs. Uma Jairam and Ramkumar Chandrasekaran for taking me to these places.

HISTORY
AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
is said the Shiva Lingam was in a formal temple structure, and it fell into ruins
without maintenance. The temple was not reconstructed, and the Shiva Lingam
remains in the same spot, open to the sky.
Based
on the Shiva Lingam and its size and the iconography of Rishabam, the old temple may
be 500 to 600 years old.
