HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The Pallava King Dantivarman’s
51st reign year 847 CE inscription on a detatched stone built into
the floor at the entrance into the Padmavati Amman temple, registers a gift of
30 kalañcu (of gold) by Solanär Ulagaperumānār of Cola-nādu, as capital for
burning a sacred lamp for Perumānadigal in the Tiruvilańköyil set up for god
Emberumān-adigal of Tiruvēngadam in Tiruccōginür in Kudavūr-nādu, a sub-division
of Tiruvēngadak-kōttam. It also records the maintenance of the lamp by persons
(or body) who gave for the capital, the (land called) Karukki-pațți instead of the (endowed) gold received by them.

TIRUMALA THIRUPATI DEVASTHANAMS
This time we had not visited any of
the Tirupati town temples. After a small pooja at the start point of the footsteps, Alipiri started out trekking. This time I fixed a target of climbing to
1000 steps without stopping. On reaching 1000 steps revised my target to 1500.
Beyond 1000 steps, the steps are a little steep, and the bag on my back also pulled me
down. But able to beat my previous record and stopped only at Gali Gopuram at
2080 steps. Really, I was very happy to make it.
After getting accommodation kept our
belongings in the room and had the darshan of Sri Balaji. It was a 2-hour
waiting period to have the darshan. Thanks to Lord Balaji.
