LEGEND:
Vanasura’s
captains Onan Kanthan and Jalandharan, who came out of Lord Shiva’s eyes
also worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Hence the three Shiva sannadhis are after their name. When Sundarar
sang hymns, Lord Shiva transformed Tamarind fruits into
Gold to build this temple.
The
temple Sivachariyar calls himself Siddhar and he tells kuri (குறி சொல்லுதல்) (about the person and future
happenings - like astrology). It is interesting to hear and note the
history of the temple through his actions.
