Moolavar  : Sri Oneswarar, Kantheswarar and Jalandhareswara.

Some of the important features of this temple are.....
There is a small three-tier Rajagopuram with Rishabam and Balipeedam on the east side without Dwajasthambam. There are three Shiva Shrines in this complex, with Moolavars as Swayambhu.

The main shrine is for Sri Oneswarar. The entrance to Moolavar Sannadhi is small, with Stucco Dwarapalakas on both sides. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Mahavishnu, Brahma, and Vishnu Durgai. Oneswarar is of swayambhu and big in size, with an irregular surface. Vibhuti pattai Alangaram looks cute. Somaskandar's image is on the back wall of the sanctum sanctorum.

In the outer praharam Sannadhi for Vayiruthari Pillayar, Omkara Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar (Kumara Velan), Sapta nagakanniyas, Bhairavar, Navagrahas, Suryan, Agora Veerabhadra, and Chandikeswarar. Naalvar is in the front mandapam. The second Sri Kantheswarar is in a separate shrine  with balipeedam and Rishabam, but without any Koshta images, and is also in the prakaram.

The third Shrine is the Jalandhareswara Sannadhi with a separate balipedam, Rishabam, and a mini single-tier Rajagopuram. There is an interconnecting door from the Onakanthan Thali Temple. There are no koshta images in this temple either. Sri Jalandhareswarar was worshiped by Jalandharan.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the original temple existed before the Pallava period and was rebuilt by the Pallavas and later the Vijayanagaras. There is an inscription found in this temple. The temple was again reconstructed by the Vijayanagara during 1the 6th to 17th Centuries.

The 18th-century saint Sri Sivagnana Swamigal had written the sthala purana of Onan, Kanthan, and Jalandharan and worshiped Shiva temples in Kanchipuram.

LEGEND:
Vanasura’s captains, Onan Kanthan and Jalandharan, who came out of Lord Shiva’s eyes, also worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Hence, the three Shiva sannadhis are after their name. When Sundarar sang hymns, Lord Shiva transformed Tamarind fruits into Gold to build this temple.

The temple Sivachariyar calls himself Siddhar, and he tells kuri (குறி சொல்லுதல்) (about the person and future happenings - like astrology). It is interesting to hear and note the history of the temple through his actions.
