Angalamman Temple/ ஸ்ரீ அங்காளம்மன் கோயில், நடுவச்சேரி / Naduvacheri / Naduvachery, Tiruppur District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Sri Angalamman Temple at Naduvacheri / Naduvachery was part of a Heritage visit to the temples, heritage sites, and Hero stones from Vijayamangalam to Avinashi, on 07th August 2021. This is one of the lesser-known temples of Tiruppur District. As per Sri Kothaipirateechuravarar Temple’s inscriptions, this place was called “Vadakirpalli”, during the 13th to 14th Century.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
This temple faces East with an entrance arch. A Trishul, balipeedam, and Rishabam are after the entrance. Stucco male and female Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum. Vinayagar, Nagars, Veerabhadra and Karuppaswamy are in the prakaram.

The Sanctum Sanctorum is constructed in a Village Style. Instead of Simham, Rishabam is in front of the sanctum sanctorum, Vimana, and on the compound walls. The Vimana is of Nagara style.

HISTORY
As per Chozha’s Poorva pattayam, The Chera king along with Mudali Sadaiappan and Kathoori Rangappa Chetti, came to this place after worshiping Lord Shiva of Konapuri. When Cheraman Perumal wished to establish a Village in his name, asked the Hunters / Vedars to clear the forest, to establish a Village, the “Seval BardraKali”, who guards this Sevalapoondi forest came and asked Chera King a “Bali”. The Chera King promised to give a Bali after constructing a temple for her.  As promised Chera King constructed a temple for that Durga and gave Mupbali முப்பலி Goat-Pig- Cock. After clearing the forest this place “Naduvan Chery”  (Later called Naduvacheri) with a Fort and an eri / Tank was created by Chera King Cheraman Perumal in the name of a Person “Naduvan”, an Irulan who was residing in this forest.
 
As per the inscriptions of the Shiva Temple of this place Naduvacheri, was called Vadakirpalli. The Temple might have been built during the 20th Century.

As per Kongu Satakam, this place Naduvachery was one of the 35 Villages of Arainadu of Kongu Mandalam.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS.
Apart from Oru kala Pooja special poojas are conducted on Fridays, Amavasya days, Pournami days, and Aadi month Fridays. Devotees worship Angalamman as Kuladeivam.

POOJA TIMINGS
The temple will be kept open between 07 hrs to 10 hrs and 12.00 hrs Alangara Pooja.

HOW TO REACH
Naduvacheri is on the Avinashi to Kunnathur main road.
The Village Naduvacheri is about 6 KM from Sevur, 7 KM from Avinashi, 17 KM from Kunnathur,  19 KM from Tiruppur, 48 KM from Coimbatore, and 463 KM from Chennai.
The nearest Railway station is Tiruppur.
