Utilizing the Deepavali Holidays went to this temple on the 3rd of November 2024. This is one of the Murugan temples in and around Chennai and the Deity is similar to Thiruchendur. Hence this Murugan is called Vadachendur Murugan.

The temple is facing east. Peacock vahana is in front of the sanctum Sanctorum. Stucco Dwarapalakas are on both sides of the entrance to the Sanctum Sanctorum. Murugan, in the sanctum Sanctorum is in standing posture holding Sakthi ayutham and Vajraayutham in the upper hands the lower left hand is in kadi hastam and the right hand is holding flag staff.
In praharam Vinayagar, Sri Kailasanathar, Anjnneyar, Ayyappan, Gosala, Dakshinamurthy, Dharmambigai Ambal, Navagrahas, Ashtabhula Bairavar, and Durga.
ARCHITECTURE
The whole temple was constructed with bricks and cement concrete. The temple consists of Sanctum Sanctorum, antarala/ ardha mandapam and open mukha mandapam. The Sanctum Sanctorum is on a pada bandha adhistanam with jagathy, three patta kumudam, and Pattikai. The Bhitti starts with vedikai. The pilasters are of Brahma kantha pilasters with kalasam, kudam, palakai and pothyal. The prastaram consists of valapi and kapotam with nasikudus. The vimanam is of one tala and sigaram is in nagara style. Murugan’s various forms are on the tala koshtams.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple was built about 28-30 years before, while the plots are divided. A small Murugan temple was constructed on land allotted for the park. Later Shiva with Ambal and other parivara sannidhis are added.

Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Pradosham, Maha Shivaratri, Kandar Sashti, Kiruthigai, Karthikai Deepam, Navaratri, Fridays, Hanuman Jayanthi, etc,.

This Murugan Temple is in Chendurpuram, a part of Kattupakkam, between Porur and Poonamallee.
From Porur to Poonamallee trunk road, after Ayyappanthangal Bus terminus, take a left on Chendurpuram Main Road and the temple is about 2 km.
The temple is 6.2 KM from Porur, 7.2 km from Poonamallee, 13.3 km from Koyambedu, and 25 KM from Chennai Central.
Nearest Railway Station is Guindy ( 12 km ).
