The
Anjaneyar temple is also called as Hanuman Temple and Sanjeevirayar Temple.
This temple is in the southern part of the Village also called Chinna
Velikadu. After attending a family function, visited the temple on 23rd
October 2024.

of the salient features of this temple are…
The
temple is facing west. Stucco images of Anjaneyar in sitting posture with
Anjali Hastam on the left and standing posture with Abhaya Hastam on the
right side. In Sanctum Anjaneyar/ Sanjeevi Rayar is in three bangha standing
posture with head turned towards South. Sanjeevi Rayar is holding a lotus in his left hand and keeping it on his hip, his right hand is in abhaya/waving hasta. Sanjeevi
Rayar is wearing ornaments around his neck. There is also another Idol of
Hanuman in the same sanctorum.
ARCHITECTURE
The
temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum and a mukha mandapam. There is no Vimana
over the sanctum sanctorum. A stucco image of Hanuman is on the top of the Mukha
mandapam.

AND INSCRIPTION
Even though the present structure belongs to recent years, as per the main deity Sri
Sanjeevirayar’s iconography, the Sanjeevirayar may belong to the Vijayanagara /
Nayakas period.

Road. Can be reached from Maduranthakam also ( 16 km), via Vilvarayanallur,
Sirunallur, and Chitravadi. 16.5 km
from Kuvathur on ECR, and 23 km from Melmaruvathur,
