HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
During the Chozha period, this place was under Jayangonda Chozha Mmandalathu Kulothunga Chozha Valanadu. These two temples are in the same spot, where constructed now. Due to many reasons, which include improper maintenance, the temples were destroyed completely without leaving a trace of any remains of the old Chozha period temples. The locals had forgotten the existence of the Shiva Temple in this place.

After many years, the locals on the way to fetch water for the Muneeswaran temple celebration, stayed under a tree for the rain. Due to rainwater, the mud over the ancient Shiva Lingam washed away and the egg-shaped green color Maragatha Lingam was visible. The locals unearthed the Shiva Linga, avudayar, Rishabam, and a Maha Vishnu Murti. They installed it under a temporary shed and started worshipping. Later through Prasannam, they came to know that there are Shiva and Vishnu Temples on the same spot, constructed during the Chozha period.  The present temples are constructed and Maha Kumbhabhishekam was conducted, on 18th March 2016.
