The visit to this Sri Karunai Eswarar Temple, on
the banks of Thiruverkadu Lake, was a part of “Gajabrushta Vimana Temples
Visit”, in Ayanambakkam area on 2nd November 2025.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east. Balipeedam and Rishabam are
in front of the Shiva Lingam. Vinayagar and Murugan are on both sides of the Shiva
Lingam. Ambal is also in the sanctum, facing south.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple was built with bricks, and the roof is
covered with a metacolour sheet.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the Moolavar existed on the
same spot, and the present structure was built in recent years.
LEGENDS
It is believed that this is one of the eight
temples around the Sri Etteeswarar Temple of Ayanambakkam.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from oru kala poojas, special poojas are
conducted on Maha Shivaratri Days.

Since oru kala pooja is conducted, opening and
closing times are unpredictable.

The temple is on the west bank of Ayanambakkam
Lake, a part of Thiruverkadu, 900 meters from Thiruverkadu Karumariamman
Temple, 6 km from Maduravoyal flyover, and 10 km from Koyambedu CMBT bus
terminus.
