The visit to this Sri Vaira Thoon Etteeswarar
Temple, on the banks of Cooum River, Thiruverkadu, was a part of “Gajabrushta
Vimana Temples Visit”, in Ayanambakkam area on 2nd November 2025.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east. Balipeedam and Rishabam are
in front of the Shiva Lingam. Moolavar has 8 flat surfaces, Dhara Lingam with
cracks on the top. Shiva Lingam is under the Rudraksha pandal. The moolavar is on a
round avudaiyar. Vinayagar and Ambal (faces south) are in the sanctum
sanctorum.
ARCHITECTURE
There is no proper temple, and Shiva Lingam is under
a metacolour Sheet shed.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the Shiva Lingam belongs to the Pallava period.
LEGENDS
It is believed that this is one of the eight
temples built around the Sri Etteeswarar Temple of Ayanambakkam.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from oru kala poojas, special poojas are
conducted on Maha Shivaratri Days.

Since oru kala pooja is conducted, opening and
closing times are unpredictable.

The temple is on the banks of the Cooum River, 4 km
