Kozhi Nadukal / கோழி நடுகல் / Hero Stone / Veerakallu at Aviyur, Villupuram District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Kozhi Nadukal / கோழி நடுகல், at Aviyur was a part of Villupuram Heritage Walk organized by History Trails, on 24^th and 25^th July 2021.

This Kozhi Nadukal is at Aviyur on Cuddalore to Sankarapuram Main road, under a Peepal tree. This Nadukal was erected to a Cock, which won in a fight and might have died after that. Up on winning it was welcomed by his master with Poorna kumbh and fanned with Chowry / whisk.

The inscription on the back side, starts with a meikeerthi as Madurai konda Koparakesari.. year… மதுரை கொண்ட கொப்பரகேசரி.. யாண்டு…   From this inscription, this Kozhi Nadukal may belongs to 9^th Century Vijayalaya Chozha / Parantaka Chozha period.
