The visit to this Hero / Sati Stone at Vellarivalli was a part of “Shiva, Vishnu, Amman Temples and Heritage sites from Komarapalayam to Edappadi Visit” – On 19th May 2024. Thanks to ல மா செல்வராசு, one of my FB friends of Komarapalayam for taking me to all these places.

HERO STONE / SATI STONE, VELLARIVALLI, SALEM DISTRICT.
On the way to Vellarivalli, Mr Selvaraj showed me, this Sati stone installed, between the manmade lake bunds and the Road. It was told that the locals calls this Sati stone as “Ellai Sami”. Before starting of any celebrations at Shiva temple, poojas will be conducted to this Sati Stone, considering as Ellai Sami.

In this sati stone, the Hero and his two wives are in Anjali hastam. Which means that the hero might have died due to natural reasons. The tufts of all three are on the right side and wear ornaments around the neck and in elongated earlobes. The Hero is with a big mustache. Two pots are shown between them.
