Sri Parvatheeswarar Temple/ஸ்ரீ பர்வதீஸ்வரர் கோயில் /Eshwarar Temple, Methur/ மெதூர், Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Sri Parvatheeswarar Temple, at Methur, in Tiruvallur District, one of the "Gajaprishta Vimana Temples" of Thondai Nadu, was a part of Maha Vishnu and Shiva temples at Ponneri and Methur, on 11th October 2025. This place, Methur, is on the bus route from Ponneri to Pulicat.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with an entrance on the east side. The temple tank is on the south side. The balipeedam and Rishabam are in the ardha mandapam. Moolavar is on a square avudaiyar. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, and Brahma.
 
In praharam, Ambal Sri Kamakshi, Vinayagar, Maha Vishnu, Brahmasastha as Subramaniyar, Chandikeswarar, Chandran, and Suryan.

Ambal is in a separate sannidhi that faces east. Ambal is in a sitting posture with abhaya varada hastam.

ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, and ardha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum was built in the gajabrushta / gajaprishta style. The sanctum sanctorum is on a simple pada bandha adhistanam with jagathy and three patta kumudam. The adhistanam was built with laterite stone. The bhitti was built with bricks and plastered with lime mortar. The prastaram consists of valapi with madhalai and kapotam. The vimanam above prastaram was not built, even during renovations.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
Based on the structure and the style of construction of the gajabrushtam, the temple may be built during the Pallava period.

The Utsavars are moved to Ponneri Shiva Temple for safety reasons. The temple is under palalayam, and the renovations are moving at a snail's pace and have stopped at present.

Since the temple is under palalayam, one kala pooja is conducted.

Since oru kala pooja is conducted, the opening and closing times are unpredictable.

HOW TO REACH
This place, Methur, is on the way to Pulicat from Ponneri, and the temple is on the left side of the road with Temple tank. The temple is about 7.5 km from Ponneri Railway Station, 13 km from Pulicat, 17.5 km from Minjur, and 45 km from Chennai Central.
The nearest Railway Station is Ponneri.
