Mylapore has an important place in the Saivam and Vaishnavam history. Many Saints had done miracles and many saints were born in the Mylapore area. Peyalwar one of the 12 Alwars was also born in Mylapore.

Sri Aadhi Kesava Perumal temple is one of the famous temples in Mylapore and has a small Pond with different flowers. On Siddhartha year, Aippasi month, Dashami Thursday in Sadhaya Nakshatra Pei Alwar was born in one of the Alli flowers. He is the Hamsam of one of the Panja Aayudham of Lord Narayanan, the sword, which is called “Nandhagam” in the 7^th Century.

Peyalwar has sung Moondram Thiruvandhadhi Pasurams on Srirangam, Thiruvinnagaram ( Uppiliappan Temple ), AlagarKoil, Thirukottiyur, Thirukovilur, Thiruvallikeni and Thiruvenkadam.
