Arulmigu Asalathamman Temple / அருள்மிகு ஸ்ரீ அசலாத்தம்மன் ஆலயம், Mogappair, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to Sri Asalathamman, a Grama Devatha temple at Mogappair was a part of the “Shiva, Vishnu, and Amman Temples Visit” - in Anna Nagar, Arumbakkam, and Mogappair, on 16th October 2022.  Even though this is a small temple, it has a long history and received patronage and contributions from Chennai Metro.

Some of the salient features of this temple are...
The temple is facing North with an entrance from South. Amman is in sitting posture with abhaya varada hastam.

There are two panels with bas reliefs are installed in front of the temple. In the first panel, the reliefs contain one man standing with a sword in his right hand and three ladies. The second Panel may be a Gajalakshmi Panel. In praharam, Nagar sannidhi is under the tree, Vinayagar, Ayyappan and Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar.



ARCHITECTURE
The temple is with Sanctum Sanctorum and Ardha mandapam.  There is no Vimanam over the sanctum sanctorum. A Meta color sheet mandapam is in front of the temple.



HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple is more than 500 years old, a Grama Devathai for six Villages around Mogappair. The present structure may be 50 years old.

The meta color sheet mandapam was gifted by Chennai Metro.

LEGENDS
The Villagers believe that this Asalathamman will protect the Village from evil forces entering into the Village.

Villagers pray to Asalathamman for Child boon and good marriage alliances. It is believed that many miracles had happened by the grace of Asalathamman of this temple. 

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from Oru kala regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Fridays and the annual festival is conducted in the month of Adi.

The temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The temple is on the back side of Mangal Eri & Park.
The temple is 1.9 KM from the Ambattur Industrial Estate bus stand, 6.4 KM from the Koyambedu bus terminus, and 12.7 KM from Chennai Central Railway Station.
The Nearest Railway station is Thirumangalam about 3.6 KM.
