This Tank is called as Hulikere Kalyani Pushkarani. It is
believed that the Hoysala Dynasty King Vishnuvardhana’s wife and queen
Shantala Devi, used take bathe in this tank. There are 27 small mandapas
inside the tank along the inner periphery. These 27 small mandapas signifies
the 27 Nakshatras. Shanthala Devi used take bathe near the mandapa, which
corresponds that day.
This Tank was excavated by Veera Narasimha –I, in 1140 CE, for
the Bhuvana Booshana Laddeswara Temple. During Muslims invasion in 14th
Century, the temple was completely destroyed and only the Tank is revived.

This temple Kalyani Pushkarani is about 18 KM from Belur, 34 KM
from Hassan, 144 KM from Mysore and 211 KM from Bangalore.
