Thoonguthalai / Thookkuthalai Hero Stone, at Muchcanthi Amman Temple, / Muchanthi Amman Koil, Villivalam, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu.

This Thoonguthalai Hero Stone is installed in front of Muchanthi Amman Temple on the banks of river Palar

The Hero is in a padmasana sitting posture. His head is tied with a bamboo or a material that will bend to that shape. The hero is holding a knife/sword in his right hand in a cutting position. Usually in this type of Thoonguthalai Nadukal, his head will be cut by somebody and the the will be lifted as soon as the head is cut.

The Hero stone is made of sandstone, about 3 feet high and 2 feet wide. There is no inscription to know the purpose of this hero stone was established. Maybe for a prayer to Kali, to win a war, to get relieved from a disease, or to avoid punishment, etc. Similar types of Thoonguthalai Hero Stones are available at Pallur, Thirumalaicherry, and Vinnamangalam.
