9th July 2017.
After the Darshan of Sri Chinna Sadai Amman, I went to this temple, which is about 200 meters away and situated on the banks of the Holy River Koovam. I was told that the temple is about 300 to 400 years old.

Moolavar : Sri Ranganatha Perumal
Thayar    : Sri Ranganayaki.

Some of the salient features of this temple are.....

Moolavar Ranganathar is in a reclining posture on Anandaseshan. Ranganathar is facing upwards, and here, he is facing the devotees, head in a tilted position. Ranganathar is with 4 hands. The upper hands hold shankha & chakra, and the lower hands are in abhaya & varada hastam. Ma Lakshmi is on a Lotus flower on the chest of Ranganathar. Brahma is sitting on a lotus flower that emanates from Ranaganathar's navel. Dwarapalakas Jayan & Vijayan.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple may be 300 to 400 Years old, and the mukha mandapam seems to be of the Vijayanagara Nayaka period.

The caretaker Lady said that the moolavar is similar to the Srirangam temple with equal power.

ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum and a muka mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is of a rectangular shape to accommodate Ranganathar's reclining posture. The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to prastaram. The vimanam above the bhumi desam is of eka tala, and Sigaram is of the ayutha vesara (elliptical) style with 4 kalasa. Maha nasis are on the 4 cardinal directions. Stucco images of Maha Vishnu's various incarnations are on the greeva koshtas.

The mukha mandapam pillars have the bas reliefs of maha Vishnu's various incarnations, like Parthasarathy, Hanuman, Garuda, etc. The pillars have square bases and octagonal gandas. The capital is of pushpa pothyal.
