is the gateway of spiritual virtue. Ahilyabai is second to none in valour,
sagacity, and eminence. Nobody can equate her in these matters.

Tulsibai handled the government work from 1808 to 1817 during the illness of Yaswant Rao Holkar (I) and the infancy of Malhwar Rao Holkar (II).

After the merger of the Holkar state into the Indian union on 16.06.1948, Yashwant
Rao Holkar (II) continued as maharaja when he was succeeded by her daughter, Princess Usha Raje from 4-7-1968. Yashwant Rao Holkar also held the office of
the Raj Pramukh of Madhya Bharat Government.

Lingas are kept in a separate room where Rani Ahalyabai used to worship.
The
Lingarchan puja takes place every morning between 8:30 and 9:36. The poojas were started by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in 1766. This puja was meant to bless all
the inhabitants of the state. In her days, the population was 110,000. Every day, 111 Brahmins would each prepare a board with 1000 little Shiva Lingas made out
of the soil of the fields, each small ball representing one person. These
boards would be blessed, and the lingams would be collected and finally offered in the river
Narmada.
