The visit to this Kadageswarar
temple on Big Kamala St, Melkathirpur, Periya Kanchipuram was a part of the 2020
Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21st February 2020. After the Sri Hari Sabha Bayam Theertheeswarar Temple Visit, our next destination was Kaduveli
Siddhar Jeeva Samadhi (Mathaleeswarar
Temple).
There is no formal
temple. The Shiva Linga is under a meta-colour sheet shed. During our visit, decorations were made for Maha Shivaratri.
HISTORY
The story of Kaduveli
Siddhar is associated with the Irumbai Mahakaleshwarar Temple, a Shiva Temple. During
his period, the place suffered due to drought without rain. It was told to
the king that this was due to Kaduveli Siddhar’s severe penance. To stop this, the king sent a Devadasi dancer. Disturbed by the dance, the Kaduveli Siddhar stopped his penance. During the
Urchavar's procession, the anklet of the Devadasi dancer had fallen down.
Kaduveli Siddhar fixed her anklet. Seeing this act the people started
mocking him. Angered Siddhar, sang a song on Lord Shiva to prove his devotion
and dedication. Immediately, the Shiva Linga burst into 3 pieces. Seeing this, the people and the King realized their mistake and sought an apology from the Siddhar.
Kaduveli Siddhar has sung a song, and the Shiva Linga joined back.

Since there is no proper structure
and can have darshan at any time.

About 300 meters from
Sri Ekambaranathar Temple.
The temple is about 1.3
meters from Kanchipuram Bus Stand, 600 meters from Kanchipuram Railway
Station, 28.0 km from Arakkonam, and 65 km from Chennai.
The nearest Railway
Station is Kanchipuram, and the railway junction is Arakkonam.
