Sri Ekambareswarar Temple, Sivagnana Munivar / Meikandar / Kachiappa Munivar Temples, Thiruvaduthurai adheenam Madam, Kanchipuram, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Ekambaranathar Temple was a part of the 2020 Maha Shivaratri Temples Visit, on 21st February 2020. After Kayarohaneshwarar Temple’s visit, our next destination was this temple side Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam Madam at Pillayar Palayam.


Moolavar : Sri Ekambaranathar

Some of the Salient features of this temple are.....
Sannadhis of Arul Thiru Sivagnana Munivar, Sri Meikandar, and Arul Thiru Kachiappa Munivar are immediately after the entrance arch. The Ekambaranathar sannidhi / temple is inside the mutt. This temple faces east, only with sanctum,  Balipeedam, and Nandi. There is no vimana. Believed that this Shiva Linga belongs to the Pallava period, where this Thiru Kailaya Parambarai Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam now exists. This post is mainly to focus on the Saints Sri Sivagnana Munivar and Kachiappa Munivar, both wrote the Kanchipuram and attained Mukti in Kanchipuram.

Even though the  Sri Ekambaranathar temple is located inside Adheenam premises, stayed and worshiped by Sivagnana Munivar & Kachiappa Munivar,  both had not mentioned this temple in Kanchi Puranam. 

ARUL THIRU SIVAGNANA MUNIVAR ( 1730 – 1785 CE ).
Sri Madhava Sivagnana Yogi was born in 1730CE, to Anandhakoothan and Mayilammai at VikramaSingapuram in Tirunelveli District. He was named as Mukkala Lingar.  His spiritual guru was the Head ( Ilaya pattam – Perur )of Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam’s Suchindram Branch.  The important books written by him are Kanchi Puranam, TholkappiyaSoothira Viruthi, Sivagnanam Padiyam, Panchakradesika Malai, and Somesar Muthu Mozhi Venba. He had about 12 disciples and the first disciple was Thiruthanigai Kachiappa Munivar. He attained mukti in 1785 CE at Kanchipuram.

ARUL THIRU KAVIRATCHASAR KACHIAPPA MUNIVAR ( 1740 – 1790 CE )
Arul Thiru Kachiappa Munivar was born in 1740 CE at Thiruthani and his father and mother’s names are not known. He was named as Kachiappar. His Guru was Sivagnana Munivar. His works are Vinayaka Puranam, Thiruthanigai Puranam, Kanchipuram ( 2nd Volume ), Thiru Anaika Puranam, Poovalur Puranam, Perur Puranam, Panchatchara Desika Andhathi, and some Prabandha books. Thiruthanigai Kanthappa Munivar, who wrote Thiruthanigai Sannidhi Murai was one of his disciples. He attained Mukti in 1790 CE and the Jeeva Samadhi is on the Southwest corner of this mutt.


TEMPLE TIMINGS:
Since the temple is inside Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam mutt, kept open always. 

HOW TO REACH:
The mutt is about 2.00 KM from Kanchipuram Bus Stand, 3.00 Km from Kanchipuram Railway station, 36.0 KM from Arakkonam and 70 KM from Chennai.
Nearest Railway Station is Kanchipuram and Railway Junction is Arakkonam.
