Octagonal Water Pavilion, Hampi Ruins, Hampi, Karnataka.

….a continuation post to Saraswati Temple
19th June 2017.
This octagonal water pavilion is a stone's throwaway distance from Saraswati temple. This might have been constructed during the 16th century. There is an octagonal stage at the center surrounded by an open mandapam with very simple pillars. The roof and side are plastered with lime mortar and remains of intricate carvings can be seen on the ceiling. There are holes to get water from outside to this pavilion on each corner of the octagon.

It was around 14.00 hrs when we completed this Octagonal water pavilion visit. Instead of all the way going to Hampi, we decided to bring lunch to this pavilion.
