Rock Cut Sculptures, Elephants, Monkeys, Peacocks, An UNESCO Heritage Site, Mamallapuram, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Rock Cut sculpture on a boulder was a Part of the “Mamallapuram Heritage Visit” under the title “Known Mamallapuram, Unknown places - தெரிந்த மாமல்லபுரம், தெரியாத இடங்கள்” organized by SASTRA & Chithiram Pesuthada Groups on 19^th March 2023. This is one of the groups of monuments of Mamallapuram, a UNESCO Heritage site of Tamil Nadu.
 
This group of Sculptures is sculpted on a boulder just behind the Trimurti Rock-cut Temple. This sculpture represents a group of elephants, monkeys, and peacocks. An elephant's head alone is carved without its backside. It is nice that the sculptor had left some things to the imagination of spectators. All these Sculptures represent beautiful wildlife in the natural sense. This sculpture was carved out of granite rock.

இந்த சிற்பத்தொகுதி திரிமூர்த்தி குடைவரைக் கோயிலுக்கு பின்புறம் உள்ள ஒரு பாறையில் வெட்டப்பட்டு உள்ளது. இத்தொகுப்பில் யானைக்கூட்டம், குரங்குகள் மற்றும் மயில் போன்ற புடைச்சிற்பங்கள் வெட்டப்பட்டு உள்ளது. ஒரு யானையின் தலை மட்டும் முன்புறம் தெரிகின்றது. யானையின் பின்பகுதி பார்வையாளர்களின் கற்பனைக்கு சிற்பி விட்டது அருமை. இக்காட்சி ஒரு அடர்ந்த காட்டில் உள்ள மிருங்களின் இயற்கையான சூழ்நிலையை / வாழ்வைச் சித்தரிப்பது போல உள்ளது.
