The
Visit to this Hero Stones at Thiruvalangadu was a part of Tiruvallur Heritage walk organised by
Celebrate Kanchi, under the leadership of Mr Vels Kumaran, on 22nd
& 23rd April 2023.
ELLAI SAMI / HERO
STONE
There
are two hero stones found at the Junction of bus stop. Of which one is
worshipped as Ellai Kaval Theivam of Thiruvalangadu. The hero is in standing
posture, holding a sword with both hands. The sword is shown on the back side.
A half dress is shown below his hip.
POTTU SAMI
The
other Hero stone is on the other side of the road with lot of kumkum thilaks.
This is worshipped as Pottu sami, one of the kaval theivam of Thiruvalangadu. Only
head is Visible. This may not be a hero stone, since a greeda makudam is shown
on the head. This may be a female deity.
