Some
of the salient features of this temple are...
The
temple is facing east with Garudan is in front of the temple. An eri / tank is
on the back side of the Temple. Moolavar and his consorts are in sitting
posture about 6 feet tall. Two devotees in Anjali Hasta, Ramanujar, and Alwar are in the sanctum sanctorum.
ARCHITECTURE
Since
the original temple was completely destroyed, a new temple was built in
recent years on the same site. Since the present structure is temporary in
nature, no architectural styles are followed.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
The
original temple was a little backside under the tree. Based on the adhisthana stone,
the temple was constructed on a pada bandha adhistanam with three patta
Kumudam. Granite, Laterite, and sandstones are used. We are not sure of the superstructure above the sanctum sanctorum.
The 9th to 10th
Century Tamil inscriptions are found on granite and sandstones. From these and the iconography of the Perumal, the
original temple might have been constructed later Pallava or Early Chozha
Period.
