Sri Rudreswar Temple / ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரேஸ்வரர் கோயில், Kudi Perambakkam / குடி பேரம்பாக்கம், Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this Sri Rudreswar Temple at Kudi Perambakkam was a part of the Heritage Visit to Veerapuram in Chengalpattu District on 16th April 2023. Mrs Manonmani guided me to go to this temple, which is on the way from Anupuram to Veerapuram.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
On the left side of the entrance to the complex, are the Vinayagar sannidhi, Venkatachalapathy & Padmavathy Sannidhis, and Garudan sannidhi. On the left is the stucco image of Shiva as Rudra and Agasthiyar. The main Shiva temple is facing east with a temple tank. A stucco image of Shiva and Parvati is on the top of the arch. The balipeedam and Rishabam are in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum. Stucco images of Dwarapalakas are on both sides of the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum. Moolavar is a little tall. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma, and Durgai.

Ambal is in a separate sannidhi facing south. Ambal Rudrambigai is in standing posture with abhaya varada hastam. In praharam, Chandikeswarar, Bairavar, Chandran, Suryan and Nalvar.
 

ARCHITECTURE
The whole temple was built with bricks in recent years. The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam and a open mukha mandapam. The adhistanam is of simple pada bandha adhistanam with vrutha kumudam. An eka tala nagara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum.



HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It was said that the antiquity of the Shiva Lingam is not known and abandoned near this place. A new temple was constructed  in recent years. An old photo is hung on the wall.


POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas special poojas are conducted on pradosam, Maha Shivaratri with Theppa Utsavam, Annabhishekam, etc,.

The temple will be kept open between 6.45 hrs to 12.45 hrs and 15.45 to 20.45 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
This place Kudiperampakkam is on the Anupuram to Narasankuppam / Neikuppi road.
The temple is about 4.5 KM from Anupuram, 11 KM from Thirukalukundram, 15 KM from Mamallapuram, 26 KM from Chengalpattu, and  63 km from Velacherry, Chennai. 
Nearest Railway Station is Chengalpattu.
