The
Visit to this Sri Kumareshar Temple at Kudi Perambakkam was a part of Heritage
Visit to Veerapuram in Chengalpattu District on 16th April 2023. Mrs
Manonmani guided to go to this temple, which
is on the way from Anupuram to Veerapuram. Both Sri Rudreswarar and
Kumareshar temples are in the same complex and this temple is older than Sri
Rudreswarar Temple.

Some of the salient features of this temple
are….
The temple is facing east with Balipeedam and
Rishabam. Dwarapalakas, bas-reliefs of Vinayagar and Murugan as Mayil vahanan
are on the both side of the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum. In koshtam
Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahma and Durgai.
Ambal Thiripura Sundari, is in a separate
sannidhi facing south. Ambal is in standing posture with abhaya varada hastam.
In Praharam, Naga Lingam, Dasa bhuja ( 10 Hands ) Bairavar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar and Vinayagar.

ARCHITECTURE
The original temple was built with stone up to
prastaram level and the super structure Vimanam was of Vesara style. The old
pic also shows that the temple was built with mandapam. The Ardha mandapam / maha mandapam pillars
are of vrutha pillars with vettupothyal.
The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum,
antarala, ardha mandapam, maha mandapam and open mukha mandapam. The sanctum
sanctorum was built with stone up to prastaram using the old stones and the
Vimanam was built with Bricks in Nagara
Style. A two tala nagara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
As per the old photographs, the temple may be
200 to 300 years old. Only 20th century fragment inscription is
found on the mukha mandapam wall.

CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas special poojas are
conducted on pradosham, Maha Shiva Ratri with Theppa Utsavam, Annabhishekam,
etc,.

The temple will be kept opened between 6.45 hrs
to 12.45 hrs and 15.45 to 20.45 hrs.

This place Kudiperampakkam is on the Anupuram
to Narasankuppam / Neikuppi.
The temple is about 4.5 KM from Anupuram, 11 KM
from Thirukalukundram, 15 KM from Mamallapuram,
26 KM from Chengalpattu and 63 km
from Velacherry, Chennai.
Nearest Railway Station is Chengalpattu.
